Well, I was so looking forward to Shane Bryne finishing a race and he was doing well up in 7th until, alas, he fell off, and even James Ellison couldn't keep upright. Surely we can expect UK riders to be able to ride in the rain.... Can't we?

Is it possible that a UK rider could come good in Donnington, hmm I think not. Maybe Shaky Bryne will surpass his usual 17th place though.

yeah Hayden was happy to win this race, but he will know that LS is a technical circuit and you do need experience of it to do well there. so you could say that this race was a test of his nerve rather than his skill[;)]

Laguna is nothing like anything else on MotoGP. Like many champions said it, you have to force the bike in Laguna to go fast. And of course, he's local and get an extra bump from it. If he averagely finishes 5th or so, then he's not really faster in Laguna than on other tracks. Rossi doesn't know the track, Colin struggled with grip, Melandri didn't know the track, same for Sete and the rest of the boys.
Hopefully he gets his head little bit more straight from now on and as I said: he doesn't chase "those fast guys" but is one of those :)

yep...rossi isn't known as a 'genius' for nothing!
I have faith in Hayden's performance at Laguna Seca giving him a kick up the butt, hope more than faith actually. well he'd better make this his turning point before it's too late. Apart from the mental side of things, how can nicky hayden do so well at a track like Laguna Seca and not so well anywhere else?!

Yeah I have to agree with you there. It'd be nice to see some good form from riders who are not the usual suspects. But I think we've just witnessed another Tamada-like one hit wonder.

I think the reason that the US riders placed so well at Laguna Seca is just that they are much more used to the circuit than the rest if the European riders. We haven't seen Hayden or Edwards place particularly well in any other round. I don't think that Hayden will be able to sustain or duplicate this win, although it would be great to see.

He spoke a lot in all the interviews, especially during FP1 and 2 about the track being dangerous. That being said, he also said he (basically) had to suck it up and race it, Biaggi spoke rather openly about the percieved danger as well.

In the end, perhaps we in the US dodged a bullet. I would like to se T1 pushed back more, and I can certainly understand the racers chagrin with the dip leading to the corkscrew on a 250+hp bike. The track would be well served by remedying these flaws, not only for two-wheel but also four-wheel competition, and it wouldn't do anything to damage the unique nature of the track, which is rather wondrous in its design.
